Just found out last night that “carpe diem” actually translates as “pluck the day” and not “seize the day”. It is a horticultural metaphor. Plucking the day means to harvest your day and enjoy it to the fullest, not to grab the cookie like the Cookie Monster and take a big chomp out of it.
So apparently, I have been carpe-ing my diem like a mother for the last 7 years.
