I keep seeing various yo-yos showing up on TED and YouTube with self applied titles of “Futurist”. Where does one go to get schooled in the Futuristic Arts? I want to attain such notoriety, but know not the path to enlightenment.
After much contemplation regarding my habits and proclivities, a question comes to my mind regarding my place and legacy in this world. The blazing existential question that comes to my mind is “What makes me happy?” I want to believe that every person ends up pondering this in their search for relevance in this chaotic universe. After much thought, my research reveals that pretty much the only thing that makes me really happy is a glass of vino at bedtime. For it is at that moment that I am truly happy.
The Greek god of wine is Dionysus (known in Roman mythology as Bacchus). He is the Olympian god of the grape harvest, winemaking, orchards, and ritual madness. Consuming wine in his worship was a means to liberate followers from worries and experience religious ecstasy.
Now I would not say that consuming wine is my worship, but I would say that after a couple of evening glasses accompanied by a salty snack, I am marginally more ectstatic. It is often during these times that I have the most self reflective considerations about my place and legacy in this world. So it may be that Cabernet is just mind altering enough to be considered a somewhat religious experience, along the lines a Yaqui way of knowledge and encountering the teaching spirit, Mescalito.
After some more consideration, I believe I’m more of a Cabernetist as opposed to a Futurist. Thus I shall apply that unique label to myself, or possibly the label of Dionysusist, but that doesn’t exactly flow off of the tongue as nicely as Cabernetist.
